Local 1-2 brothers and sisters let’s celebrate. It ’s Black History Month, the contributions to the labor movement made by black working men and women are incalculable, we honor their sacrifices all of February and all year long. In 1869, the first national black labor union, the Colored National Labor Union, was established and paved the way for ensuing black-led labor organizations. And from there the Labor Movement produced prodigious Black heroes for all working men and women - from A. Philip Randolph, to Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr, to the Rank and File black Union Members today, who elevate all. Let’s honor Black Labor and what is has produced for all working Americans.  - UWUA Local 1-2 President James Shillitto
