Yesterday, the U.S. Supreme Court blocked the Occupational Health and Safety Administration (OSHA) mandate that required employees of private companies with 100 or more workers to be fully vaccinated or tested weekly for COVID-19.
Based on that ruling, all unvaccinated members, including NYC members with an exemption/pending exemption, do not currently need to be tested in order to report to work.
However, New York City’s vaccination mandate is still in effect for Local 1-2 members who regularly report to work in the city. This mandate requires all NYC employees to be fully vaccinated unless they have an exemption/pending exemption. If you are not vaccinated and have not yet requested an exemption for which you have a valid basis, we urge you to do so ASAP with supporting documents for your medical condition or a simple explanation of your deeply held religious beliefs to not be vaccinated.
We continue to monitor all government health guidance and legal developments on vaccines and testing.
