On June 15th, UWUA Local 1-2 and our membership was honored, along with other essential workers, for the work that you did during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Governor has also announced the creation of an Essential Worker Memorial in Battery Park. Over the past few months, President James Shillitto has represented our union on the Essential Workers Monument Advisory Committee along with labor leaders and officials that represent other essential workers throughout the state. UWUA Meets with Energy Secretary on Clean Energy Plan

On Tuesday, June 29th, the UWUA along with members of the New York City Central Labor Council and Climate Jobs NY hosted United States Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm. Over the 45 minute meeting, they discussed what the White House's plan is for building a clean energy economy, ensuring that this change over creates good, union jobs, and provides a just transition for workers. Click here to watch the discussion.
