Brothers and Sisters of Local 1-2,
As we reflect on the lasting impact of September 11, 2001, we remember with deep respect the members of Local 1-2 who worked at the World Trade Center site in the days, weeks, and months after the attack. Their courage, professionalism, and sacrifice in the face of unimaginable tragedy represent the very best of our union.

Tunnel to Towers Foundation
Born from the tragedy of 9/11, the Tunnel to Towers Foundation carries forward a legacy of courage and heroism. Guided by the mantra: While we have time, let us do good. The Foundation supports our nation’s fallen and catastrophically injured first responders, military heroes, and their families.
In Memory of Firefighter Stephen Siller
The Tunnel to Towers 5K Run & Walk NYC was created to honor the final footsteps of Stephen Siller, a New York City firefighter (FDNY) who lost his life on September 11, 2001, after strapping on his gear and running through the Hugh L. Carey Tunnel — formerly known as the Brooklyn-Battery Tunnel — to the Twin Towers.
Every step of this course retraces his path: from the Brooklyn portal of the tunnel, through the streets of Manhattan, finishing at West Street and Murray Street.
