These Terms and Conditions (“Terms”) govern your use of the website located at https://uwua1-2.org/ (“the Website”) and our SMS text messaging program, both operated by Utility Workers Union of America Local 1-2 (“UWUA Local 1-2,” “we,” “us,” or “the Union”). By accessing the Website or enrolling in our SMS program, you agree to be bound by these Terms.

SMS Text Messaging Program Terms

Program Description

The UWUA Local 1-2 SMS program allows union members to text questions about their collective bargaining agreement and receive automated informational responses about wages, benefits, work rules, and other contract provisions. Members may also receive periodic informational updates from UWUA Local 1-2 regarding union services. Messages are informational only and are not used for marketing or promotional purposes. Members opt in to the program by completing the signup form at https://uwua1-2.org/signup-now/ and checking the SMS Consent box.

Message Frequency

Message frequency typically averages twice per month, but may vary based on member activity and union communications.

Message and Data Rates

Message and data rates may apply. UWUA Local 1-2 does not charge for SMS messages, but your wireless carrier’s standard message and data rates apply to all messages sent and received. Please contact your wireless provider for details about your specific plan.

How to Opt Out (STOP)

You may opt out of the SMS program at any time by replying STOP to any text message from UWUA Local 1-2. After you send STOP, you will receive a confirmation message and will not receive further SMS messages from us. To rejoin the program, complete the signup form again.

How to Get Help (HELP)

For help, reply HELP to any text message from UWUA Local 1-2 to receive contact information. You can also call our main office at (212) 575-4400 or email contact@uwua1-2.org for assistance with the SMS program.

Supported Carriers

The UWUA Local 1-2 SMS program is compatible with all major U.S. wireless carriers, including AT&T, Verizon Wireless, T-Mobile, Sprint, U.S. Cellular, Boost Mobile, MetroPCS, Cricket Wireless, and others.

Carrier Disclaimer

Wireless carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages. Message delivery is subject to the effective transmission from your wireless service provider and is not guaranteed.

Privacy of SMS Data

Mobile information (phone numbers and SMS opt-in consent data) will not be shared with any third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. All SMS opt-in data and consent information is excluded from any sharing with third parties. For full details, see our Privacy Policy.

Eligibility

To enroll in the SMS program, you must be at least 18 years of age (or the age of majority in your jurisdiction) and the authorized user or owner of the wireless device associated with the phone number you provide.

Changes to the SMS Program

UWUA Local 1-2 reserves the right to modify or terminate the SMS program at any time, with or without notice. Material changes to these SMS Terms will be posted on this page with an updated Effective Date.
