The Joseph Caradonna Memorial Scholarship provides financial assistance for college‑bound students. Awards may be used for tuition and books. The scholarship is available to eligible children of non‑supervisory utility workers employed in New York City or Westchester County.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must:
- Be a High School Senior graduating in 2026.
- Plan to enroll—or already be enrolled—in a post‑secondary institution certified by that state’s Department of Education.
- Be the child of a Utility Worker who works in NYC or Westchester County.
Ineligible Applicants:
- Utility workers themselves
- Spouses or siblings of utility workers
- Children of full‑time Union Officers
- Child of a Utility Worker who is a supervisor or manager
Submission Instructions
Applicants must submit:
- Completed scholarship application form.
- Official high school transcript covering the first six terms.
- Principal’s signature on the application form.

Selection & Essay Requirements
Scholarship recipients will be selected based on:
- Academic record (submitted transcripts)
- A required essay of at least 350 words on the importance of a Union in the applicant’s family life
After the initial application review, qualified applicants will receive the specific essay prompt and due date via letter or email.
